FatFace, along with some other big highstreet names, have come up with an initiative that will save you time, effort, and money this Christmas.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Picture the scene. You\u2019ve walked into your local highstreet retailer and picked up that perfect gift for your special someone. Once you\u2019ve finished shopping, it\u2019s placed in a paper bag and you\u2019re on your way home to wrap it up and pop it under the tree. But what are you wrapping it with?<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mindful Wrapping<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the last few years, highstreet shops such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fatface.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FatFace<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.primark.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Primark<\/a>\u00a0have turned to \u2018Mindful Wrapping\u2019 in their stores and are providing customers with shopping bags that feature a sustainable twist. Instead of sending you off with a plain\/branded paper bag for one time use, they have printed festive patterns onto their paper bags with the intention for them to be cut up and used as wrapping paper on the gift that you have just bought. Primark have redesigned their brown paper bags to feature\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.primark.com\/en-ie\/the-edit\/home\/its-a-wrap\/a\/0ce582b9-fc6b-4ed5-8729-a80bebff1c4e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">candy cane red stripe<\/a>s.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Europe, 74% [1] of paper and 83% [2] of paper-based packaging is recycled into new products. It\u2019s no wonder larger companies are starting to use their own paper-based products in an act of sustainability.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Repurposing Your Paper Bags<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In previous years, FatFace have designed their paper bags so they can double up as paper chains, as well as gift wrap. Some of their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.craigeves.co.uk\/fatface-mindful-wrapping\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">smaller shopping bags<\/a>\u00a0have even been printed with a template to make your own Christmas crackers. So no matter how big or small your purchase, you can be included in the sustainable, paper-based festivities.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a part of this years Christmas campaign, FatFace have put together a blog on how to use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fatface.com\/blog-articles\/mindful-wrapping-with-the-modern-calligraphy-company.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">calligraphy<\/a>. This works well, not only as a single creative medium for writing, but it further enhances their shopping bag wrapping paper when used on presents. What\u2019s more, any left over shopping bag wrapping paper can be used to make gift tags with your own calligraphy message on it.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sustainable Concept<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The possibilities for alternative paper bag use is far reaching when using such a sustainable product. St Louis based graphic designer,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.behance.net\/gallery\/18587077\/H-M-Sustainable-Retail-Packaging\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jayvn Soloman<\/a>\u00a0designed a unique and sustainable concept for the high street store,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hmgroup.com\/sustainability\/sustainability-reporting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">H&amp;M<\/a>, that turns paper shopping bags into clothes hangers after use. Although this is just a concept, H&amp;M have outlined how they aim to become a more sustainable business on their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hmgroup.com\/sustainability\/circular-and-climate-positive\/packaging\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a>. Although cotton bags are great for re-using multiple times when shopping, they need to be used at least 50 times to achieve the same climate performance as paper bags [3].
